Inspired by nature and the region's history
Historically speaking Surat, as part of the Maranoa district was linked with
the production of cattle and sheep. Although primarily highly regarded for the production of sheep the region also came into prosperity for its native pastures.
Surat has since become known for its historic connection with the Cobb and Co Coach (the last service was between Surat and Yuleba). These days, attractions to Surat and it’s surrounds include cropping – wheat; gas and fishing (Yellowbelly and Cod) and the stunning native gardens of Myall Park Native Gardens.

- About Project
- Incorporating elements of the rural landscape of Surat and surrounds by developing historical origins significant to the identity of the present-day region. We chose to deliberately incorporate colours of the Surat State School in the logo.
- Project Brief
- The P&C Association required a logo that would identify them as part of the school community, whilst not identical to. A distinction between the School emblem (see shield below) and the P&C was necessary, so that the P&C could cultivate their own character in time.
We chose to create a simplistic logo that depicted a contemporary style while maintaining a link to traditional elements.
Teamed with a crisp sans serif font ‘Lato’ and non-traditional typography favouring a lower-case expression in this instance, implies youth and distinction. Variations of black in the typography helped to preserve a familial and uniform appearance.
